More Good Days, Together

What a perfect month to celebrate mental health! As we delight in leaving the cold winter months behind us, we can rejoice in spring and all it brings—new growth, blooming flowers, singing birds, and longer days with shorter nights. Spring reminds us that brighter days are ahead and that the cold darkness of winter is temporary.

Just like the seasons in Ohio, our mental health can fluctuate, too. Some seasons are harder than others. Whether we are dealing with trauma, loss, or chronic mental or physical illness, Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to acknowledge that struggles exist, but recovery is possible, and treatment works.

Mental Health Awareness Month was first recognized in 1949 thanks to the efforts of the National Association for Mental Health, now known as Mental Health America (MHA). This month is dedicated to raising awareness and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness. The theme this year is, "More Good Days, Together."

Regardless of our own personal wellness, mental health is a topic that impacts all of us. May this month inspire us to create a community where mental health is understood and prioritized—not just for one month, but every day.
